Christmas Mayhem!

Hello and welcome back to the Dorchester Middle School Pupil Voice Blog!

Attendance Champions

Finally, after months of planning, we were able to award our Attendance Champions Trophies to a class in Key Stage Two and a class in Key Stage Three.

The Trophies are awarded to the classes with the highest attendance for that week and they were 6RM and 7MH.

To continue to highlight the importance of Attendance throughout the school, a display has been created in the Reception area.

Mrs Scott was our guest of honour and officially switched on the lights for us during our final Book Group of the year.

We were all very excited!

Christmas Jumper Day

A HUGE Thank You to the Pupil Voice Representatives who took part in choosing and judging their favourite Christmas Jumpers.

It was a tough decision but winners were chosen and Chocolate Santas were awarded.

We raised £450 for Save the Children which was fantastic, thank you everyone!

Our next Pupil Voice Meeting will be held on Monday 9th January at 1.10pm. I will look forward to seeing everyone then.

Have a good Christmas and here's to a cracking 2017!

The School Shop raised £346.50 by selling Children in Need merchandise.

The Non-Uniform Day raised £552.55.

In total, we raised an incredible £1122.31!

Hello and welcome to the brand new Dorchester Middle School Pupil Voice Blog!

At Dorchester Middle School we have enthusiastic, active and committed Pupil Voice Representatives who would like to keep you in touch with what is happening in our school.

Our first post is about our trip to St Osmund's Middle School on Tuesday 18th October. All the DASP (Dorchester Area Schools Partnership) Student Voice children were invited to visit the school because they are very concerned about the refugee crisis in Calais to the point where they are sending their harvest donations to the Calais Kitchen.

After looking around their version of the Calais Refugee Camp in their school grounds, we were shown to their Drama Studio where Mike and Suzi Hearn from Blandford CARES (Calais Aid for Refugees Europe and Sudan) talked about their experiences when visiting and supporting the Calais Jungle.

The children then had the opportunity to make Spice Bags (which are extremely popular amongst the refugees) as well as writing letters to the Prime Minster Teresa May and to contribute to banners created by the children at St Osmund's.

Rosie, Lukas and Matt had a really informative morning and learnt a lot from the whole experience. They will be reporting back to the DMS Pupil Voice Representatives after half term to raise awareness and to discuss how we can support this cause.
